ROLE OF YOUR HOME

‘Why should I move?’ When speaking about real estate this question is bound to arise.  There should only be one answer; ‘to improve your life.’  Your home should be able to support the activities you want to participate in.  If you entertain, a large living or family room will be important. If you enjoy do-it-yourself projects, you will want a large workshop or garage.  What about overnight visitors?  You will need an extra bedroom.

Your home should also accommodate lifestyle changes. It is common to see many generations of the same family in one home.  Is yours able to support such an eventuality? Could you use the extra space to make some rental income? You know your own situation best, and your plans should reflect changes in the future.  After all, you will own your home for a long time, it should always be an important asset (a financial asset as well as an asset in its use) to you and your family through-out that time.

Do you need a large home with a smaller amount of your financial portfolio held in a more liquid form, such as cash?  Do you prefer to have a smaller home with more cash readily available? These types of questions will also effect the type of home you own. As your life changes, so will your answers to these questions, and therefore so will your home. In each of these changes, it is important to remember the reason for the move.  You are taking another step toward the life you want to live, you are making your life better.

Moving is a stressful time in your life, keeping focused on the goals of your life will remind you why it’s always worth it.  Living your life the way you want, with the people you love, is of profound importance.  To all my clients I ask ‘how will this move improve your life?’  Throughout the process, together we ensure that dreams become reality.
